Composer Workshop

Our Composer Workshop has the goals of giving American composers of merit the opportunity to create new works, giving attention and exposure to worthy underrepresented music, and developing methods in which the particular musical style or message of new and modern works can be communicated to a wider general audience.  Our Phoenix Ensemble has produced several important recordings, including world premieres of music of Jonathan Dawe and Milton Babbitt.

Phoenix Ensemble performs Stockhausen's Zeitmasze and Schoenberg's Wind Quintet, Op. 26, released in 2012 on the Albany Records label

Phoenix Ensemble performs the Clarinet Quintet of Morton Feldman and the world premiere recording of Milton Babbitt's Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, released in 2009 on the Innova Recordings label

Phoenix Ensemble performs the world premiere recording of Jonathan Dawe's Fractal Farm for wind quintet, released in 2007 on the Furious Artisans label
