We present free classical music concerts, classes and workshops for the elderly at senior centers and senior care venues through our Music for Seniors program. These music events take place primarily in low-income and disadvantaged neighborhoods, where audiences have not had traditional access to the musical arts, or at facilities where our audiences are not able to experience concerts as they have in the past.
In many cases, our musicians help the frail elderly maintain the quality of life they were used to when they lived more independently, as well as bring joy and emotional uplift to those who are undergoing a difficult period in their lives.
“I have been going to the classes and concerts for a long time. And I witnessed how we started with a small group, and it grew and grew, and it was free. It was the only opportunity as a senior citizen to have a free music experience. So we have opera, we have concerts; we have classics like Schubert. But the main thing, I stress: senior citizens who are somehow limited where they can go and when they go, with their fixed income, should have the opportunity to experience a cultural musical event without having to pay for it. This is our right. We work all our life, and we want culture, experiences that are missing. Ansonia Music provides these experiences.” Evelyn Foley
